Groups of 3. Consider the questions on the map and outline interview questions. Create an introductory statement to explain what the purpose of our task is to the interviewees.
Your group will take responsibility for contacting your woman and organise an interview
time (you can invite the woman to the classroom, make the interview time after
school/weekend) - all members of group must be present at the interview.



Term 3, Week 7

Maths: It is extremely important that your learn the maths - it will not become knowledge 
the first time you do it. Concentrate on the ones you find hard, if you already know the 
answer it's already knowledge. Ask for the answer sheet if you're stuck and, if you're still 
unsure come, see me and I'll show you how to work it out.

extend yourself beyond Y8 if you are looking at Level 4 & 5). Complete 10 questions from

this on Thursday afternoon and I will print it out for you.

leviathan, behemoth, amidships, contagious and inconsolable

1. Research one of the three leaders in Refugee and write up a 2 paragraph explanation
- Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro or Bashar al Assad
2. Pretend that war has broken out in your neighbourhood/town/city. What are you going
to do? Are you going to stay or leave? What are you going to take with you? Where
are you going to go? How are you going to live? Write a story about what it would be
like and the decisions you make.
3. Find the meanings of the following words: Bar mitzvah, hijab, apocalypse, perversion,
radical, tyrant, paranoia, synagogue, diminutive, fuhrer, flirtatious, oppressive and
dissidents
4. Pretend you are the CNN reporter on the beach when Isabel and her family were
leaving. Write and record a news report about what was happening

each weekend you should be reading at least 2 hours which can be added to your weekly 
times. One major way of extending your knowledge and understanding of different 
vocabulary is by reading.

Influential Women of the World - Research and find out as much as possible about
Maya Gabeira. In what ways was she a role model? How did she demonstrate resilience? 
Write a paragraph showing depth and thought. Head up with the date and her name. 
If you type please print it out and glue it flat into your homework book (please do not fold it).
